Hoya Surgical Optic Intraocular Lenses Recall

Back in 2013, Hoya group initiated a recall when it was reported that users were having adverse effects from surgically implanted optic lenses.

These lenses are like permanent contact lenses that are fused onto the eye. It’s a medical device commonly used for patients with cataracts or myopia where the lens may have deteriorated. However, many users came forward saying they had symptoms such as:

  • Discomfort
  • Redness of the eye
  • Loss of vision

Toyota has voluntary recalled 838,000 Sienna vehicles

Toyota is the latest automaker to recall some of their vehicles for a problem with their sliding doors. The recall is thought to be for 838,000 Sienna minivans worldwide, with affected models ranging between the years 2011 and 2016.

The issue is believed to relate to the electrical system for the sliding doors. The problem and danger with the sliding door is that, if it’s obstructed on opening, it could overload the door’s motor circuit and open a fuse. If this happens when the door is closed, there is the risk that the door may slide open while on the road.

Samsung do not appear to be having a great year…

Following the mass recall of the ‘exploding’ Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones, they have now had to recall 2.8 million washing machines in the U.S., with reports that machines have caused injuries to consumers.

Thousands of recalls for drugs manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical plants in India and Hungary

Regulators have recently raised concerns surrounding Sun Pharmaceutical’s plants in India and Hungary.

12,000 bottles of beta blocker have been recalled voluntarily by the company when some of the products failed impurities and degradation testing. The mass recall may give rise to legal proceedings if any customer who has bought a potentially defect product from them has had any issues.

Mazda recalling up to 42,000 vehicles that may have an airbag dysfunction

There always seems to be a recall in the automotive industry!

One of the latest is yet another problem with airbags for Mazda vehicles, as Mazda North American Operations announces an airbag recall for its Mazda 6 model produced from 4th February 2008 to 3rd December 2009.
