Our Mercedes emissions claim

Our lawyers have been working in the field of emissions litigation since it was first alleged that Volkswagen was guilty of manipulating its diesel vehicles in order to cheat emissions tests. The Volkswagen “Dieselgate” scandal was only a trigger for further allegations, with a host of other car manufacturers being subjected to accusations of emissions fraud. Mercedes was one such manufacturer, and we are looking to address any alleged wrongdoing through compensation action in our Mercedes emissions claim.

If allegations are proven, and Mercedes has failed to comply with emissions regulations, millions of affected customers could potentially be eligible to pursue compensation claims. Should the allegations be proven, Mercedes may be guilty of breaching limits in respect of harmful NOx emissions, and they may also be responsible for a huge breach of consumer rights.

As long-running supporters of the rights of consumers, we saw the Volkswagen “Dieselgate” for the huge injustice that it was. We took action quickly to initiate High Court proceedings against Volkswagen in January 2016, with the eventual litigation that followed resulting in huge numbers of people settling their case. Now, we want to use our invaluable experience and success in emissions litigation to hold other potentially guilty carmakers to account.

Mercedes recalled millions of vehicles

In 2017, Mercedes initiated a ‘voluntary service action’ which was a recall that gave owners of Mercedes diesel cars an option to return their vehicles for software updates which related to emissions output. Spanning much of Europe, the recall was reportedly expanded to also include additional diesel models, and is understood to have involved approximately 3 million vehicles thus far.

The recall followed investigations into potential emissions irregularities, in which German regulators reportedly found that Mercedes diesel vehicles may contain software capable of distorting the emissions output of engines whilst under testing conditions.

Our Mercedes emissions claim – your chance to claim compensation

Following various allegations and investigations taking place across the world, our Mercedes emissions claim provides affected customers in England and Wales with the opportunity to claim compensation. If it is found that Mercedes has broken EU emissions regulations, the manufacturer may have a lot to answer for. Any additional harmful NOx emissions produced by diesel cars could cause significant damage to human health and to the environment. Further, any breach of the law may also have compromised Mercedes’ obligations to its customers.

Where Mercedes has been deceitful to vehicle owners regarding the safety and legal compliance of its vehicles, those affected could recover significant compensation pay-outs. In fact, for cases in which the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations has been breached, those affected could potentially claim up to 100% of the original price paid for their vehicle.
