Recalls issued for 2016-17 Hyundai Tuscan and the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that Hyundai Motor America will be recalling two models of their vehicles after a defect in the brake light was found. The two car models affected are:

It’s believed there are 5,669 of these two models currently registered in the U.S. and it’s unclear how many of these cars are currently being used in the U.K.! Hyundai has so far yet to comment on whether the cars here are affected and will be needing repaired.

In these two car models, there is reportedly a faulty two hitch module. When towing cargo, for example, the module is affected and the brake lights may stay on constantly. This could confuse drivers behind as they would be unsure when the driver of the Hyundai in-front is actually braking. As such, there is a real risk of an accident occurring as a result of the defect.

Hyundai is set to be issuing the recall for the affected vehicles to be repaired as soon as possible, and they are said to be replacing the wiring for the accessory trailer hitch free of charge.

Yet another car recall…

Recently it seems like the automotive industry isn’t doing all that great. Volkswagen are still in the midst of a huge worldwide scandal for cheating on their car emissions testing, although this was of course very much self-inflicted. It is suspected that they are not alone, and more investigations into other car manufacturers like Ford and Citroen may be initiated at some point.

So far, other manufactures deny they are involved in any wrongdoing.

Amidst so many recalls, there are some big new stories like Fiat Chrysler being handed a lawsuit by Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin’s parents who blame the manufacturer’s alleged defective gear and braking system for crushing and killing their son. Investigations into Smart cars are also underway as several cases of spontaneous engine explosions have been reported.

If you have a new Hyundai Tuscan or a Hyundai Santa Fe, take a few minutes to check your brake lights. For something so small, it’s paramount that you ensure your own safety and the safety of others around you by eliminating or reducing any risk of harm.

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine what harm could come from something so minor, but if you consider how big and powerful a car is, even one bump can cause a serious injury.
