The Volkswagen emissions action settlement for claimants engaged in the Group Litigation Order (GLO) in England and Wales is another positive step forward in the global fight for emissions justice.
Tens of thousands of drivers are now in line for pay-outs, despite VW disputing that they had done anything wrong for several years. Whilst settlements can still be made without any admission of liability, it is clear that the compromise recognises the justification for compensation arising from the “Dieselgate” scandal.
The Group Action Lawyers has been representing victims of the emissions scandals since 2015. Eligible clients are able to benefit from our legal services on a No Win, No Fee basis.
Volkswagen’s emissions action settlement is a multi-million-pound compromise for tens of thousands of people who are engaged in the Group Litigation Order proceedings in England and Wales.
This initial settlement has been reached after almost seven years of fighting for justice for those who owned or leased an effective vehicle caught up in the “Dieselgate” scandal. For several years, Volkswagen denied that it had done anything wrong, but a key court victory in the last two years resulted in the confirmation that the software used in vehicles did amount to a “defeat device”.
We are pleased that Volkswagen has now decided to settle the action, although it has taken time to get to this point. Unfortunately, this can be quite typical in large group action cases in England and Wales, where the wheels of litigation can be slow. This is an unprecedented case, the likes which has never really been seen before in this jurisdiction.
Those who are engaged in the action are now set to receive compensation. Hopefully, this can go some way to bringing some form of justice for the impact on them, and as a further punishment for VW over what has happened.
The Volkswagen emissions action settlement is pleasing news for our expert team here at The Group Action Lawyers. We represent thousands of people engaged in emissions claims against dozens of carmakers. This includes claimants pursuing cases for Volkswagen Group vehicles, and we have been fighting for emissions justice since the beginning when news hit the headlines in 2015.
Our Group Action Lawyers are pioneers who have been championing justice for those caught up in the emissions scandals since the start. Although the Volkswagen emissions action settlement is a very positive step forward, there is still a great deal of work that now needs to be done for the claimants engaged in actions against a range of vehicle manufacturers.
You may still be eligible to pursue an emissions compensation claim, and we may be able to represent you for a legal case on a No Win, No Fee basis.
There are no guarantees at this late point, but it is worth starting a case as soon as possible to allow us to assess your claim further to see if it is something we can continue on with.
For several years, we have been warning people about the need to start their emissions case as soon as possible. As expected, with news of the settlement in the VW case, we have been inundated with fresh inquiries. This includes from people who had been looking into starting a case several years ago, but eventually declined to take part in and will, unfortunately, miss out on the current settlement. Whether they are able to pursue a case now is uncertain.
That being said, it is still worth going to the Specialist Car Emissions Lawyers website here and completing the forms to find out if you are still eligible to join one of the group actions.
