Xarelto side-effects when mixed with other drugs

The issue of Xarelto side-effects when mixed with other drugs is currently being considered as part of the ongoing court action for negligence claims against the manufacturers of Xarelto who allegedly failed to warn users of dangerous side-effects related to use of the drug.

The blood-thinning, anti-stroke drug Xarelto – also sold under the name Rivaroxaban – has been linked to internal bleeding, and negligence claims against the manufacturers are over whether they knew of the risks of internal bleeding associated with the product but failed to warn anyone.

Our Group Action Lawyers have taken on cases to investigate claims here in the UK.

Pharmaceutical giants Bayer AG and Johnson & Johnson are currently facing compensation claims against them where a second trial in Philadelphia recently got underway. Current arguments for the Claimant have been put forward that both Bayer AG and Johnson & Johnson failed to warn doctors and patients about the risks of the medication when used with other drugs. One Claimant in the action reportedly used Xarelto with an anti-platelet drug, which significantly increased his risk of internal bleeding, which he was not warned about.

Cover-up alleged

The wider issue of internal bleeding side-effects that have reportedly not been conveyed to doctors and patients is not only an allegation of negligence in failing to warn of potential dangers to patients, but it is also an alleged cover-up.

Investigations have previously indicated a high level of patients suffering side-effects from using the drug that they were not made aware of, and it is believed by some that the manufacturers knew of the side-effects and essentially covered-up knowledge of it. If this is the case, it is not only a claim for negligence in terms of the failure to warn, but also a case of directly – and knowingly – putting patients’ health and lives at risk.

Although the US is a separate jurisdiction to the UK, we are keeping a close eye on the proceedings across the pond, and we are taking action here in the UK as well.
